In one year…

Whoops. I just looked at the last time I blogged and it was in January…

Some things have changed (exercise-wise) since then, and I am actually NOT getting back into running. Kyle and I decided to join a gym (back at the end of January). We used to lift weights together back in college, and we were missing those workouts (he hates running).

Which brings me to my next topic- the reason for joining a gym (other than increasing fitness, improving health, increasing strength, blah, blah, blah) we have a certain event that we want to look our best for…

In exactly one year from today, I will be marrying the love of my life!

Nothing like a wedding dress and fitted suit in front of 100+ people to motivate you to drop a few lbs 😉

So that running- With work, school, wedding planning, and gym workouts, training for a long distance race just wasn’t in the cards for this year. Weight lifting it is!

I should mention that I’m still running, but instead of sticking to a training plan, I go for shorter runs (2-7 miles) on some of our “off” (gym) days. It’s nice not having to stick to a running schedule and just run for fun!

Happy 1 year pre-anniversary Kyle! (that’s a thing, right?) 😉

Weekend Update- 7 Year Anniversary!

WORKOUTS:

Sunday: 6.4 miles– My watch didn’t start when my friend and I took off for my run. I went by my FitBit mileage and thought we were running 5-ish miles. I later mapped it on Google and we actually ran 6.4 haha. Woops!

Monday: Upper body strength

Tuesday: 3 miles, easy pace

On Friday, Kyle and I had our 7 year anniversary dinner date at Fleming’s! Our actual anniversary was Saturday, but we wanted to go out on Friday instead (more on that in a little bit 😉 ).

Dinner was amazingly delicious and so much fun! One of our topics of conversation was what we would do if we won the lottery. Very infrequently (MAYBE 1x/year), we will buy 1 lotto ticket just for fun. The conversations alone are worth it to us 🙂

Another funny thing we reminisced about was how on our first dates, we would always stress (internally) about having something to talk about to avoid awkward silence. Now I bet he prays for my silence ;). Funny how times have changed!

Now, Saturday was our actual anniversary. And remember I said how we didn’t want to go out? This is why:

We’ve had 2 car accidents on 2 separate anniversaries (neither were our faults)! So we said clearly we weren’t meant to travel on that date 😉

We had a relaxing day at home, went for a walk, and wrapped ourselves in bubbles for protection. We didn’t wear these for our walk, but I kind of wanted to just to see how many stares we got.

I forgot my anniversary…

5/4/2013 was the day I decided to put on my running shoes and attempt to start training for a half marathon. I told Kyle I was going to run 1 direction and just see how far I could go (I was worried about my back). I asked him to pick me up when we were done and then I would take us to breakfast.

I ran 5.11 miles in 49:53 (9:45 pace). I was hooked. I realized I could do it. I could train for a half marathon.

To celebrate my belated running anniversary, I thought it would be fun to do my Liebster Award!

Here are the questions they asked! I apologize if this bores you to tears.

1.  Who/what inspires you daily?

My mom. My mom takes care of everyone around her (myself, my sister, my dad, my grandparents- one has dementia and one has Parkinson’s, her coworkers, etc.) and doesn’t ask for anything in return. I want to be her when I grow up.

2.  What motivated you to start running?

Running blogs actually!!! To be more specific, Skinny Runner (who doesn’t actually blog anymore). I was told that I probably couldn’t run anymore after a bad car accident. Reading blogs with all these inspiring stories about overcoming injuries inspired me to train!

3.  What’s your favorite type of workout?

Strength training with Kyle. Gasp. I know. It probably has more to do with working out with Kyle than the actual workout. Now, how to convince him to run- cause this is how he feels
