50% is a lot more than you think

Friday was a pretty exciting day for Kyle. As I told a few of you, he got to go to John Madden’s house for a March Madness party. Well, I was misinformed and he went to where Johnny (what I call him, he calls me Aims. I’m lying FYI.) VIEWS his football games.

Still pretty awesome- reminds me of Vegas.

Like any good blogger, I coerced my partner into taking pictures of something cool he did. I mean, I’m no Kardashian so my typical Friday nights (rest day) involve PJ’s as soon as I get home from work.

At least 1 out of 2 people in this relationship does something cool. That’s 50%, which is a lot more than you think. If you lost 50% of your money, you’d be like

Saturday WORKOUT:

Ran 8 miles: 1 mile warmup, 6 miles steady state @ half marathon pace (for me I was aiming for 9:09), 1 mile cool down.

The 6 middle miles looked like this: 9:16, 9:32, 8:53, 8;43, 8:54, 8:58

HUGE surprise to me especially since the run felt good. I have been running quite a bit slower than I used to. I did eat a banana 1 hour before my run. I typically don’t eat before long runs because my tummy prefers it. But this time I didn’t have any “issues” so this might be a reoccurring thing.

Later in the day, I took Sienna over to Kyle’s for a swim with his 2 dogs. Followed by watching Frozen. Loved it.

Made a healthy vegan dinner for myself: tempeh, kale, broccoli, and carrots

And because life is about balance, we ended the evening with frozen yogurt to balance out my healthy running and dinner.

Sunday WORKOUT:

10 easy paced miles. Nothing easy about this run. Wanted to quit 3 miles in. We all have ’em.

And of course kicked up my feet and did a whole lot of nothing the rest of the day. Had to sport my spring bunny slipper socks.

Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

How did your workouts go?

Anyone see Frozen?

  1. I’m with you, I stayed in all weekend. Joe went out Friday night so we are 50% socially active between us 😉

I must be the only person who didn’t think Frozen was that good. It was fine, not bad definitely, but just there.

  2. So fun that Kyle got to party with your BFF Johnny!

We have very similar sounding Friday nights. So exciting over here too.
It sounds like you got some great runs in this weekend even if you didn’t really feel like it. Saturday I sat my butt on an exercise bike in anticipation of that 15K yesterday. Today my legs are screaming at me every time I get out of my chair.

Funny you should mention it, we bought Frozen yesterday and I was hoping Betty would watch it with me, but she has the attention span of a gnat so we only made it halfway through. I like it so far though, which is surprising because normally I don’t like movies with a lot of singing. I’m going to finish it tonight after she goes to bed.

  3. Hahaha. Johnny + Aims = BFF. 😉 GREAT job on your runs this weekend! And amazing times! I can’t imagine doing an 8- and a 10-miler in the same weekend. You are motivating me to start incorporating longer distances in again. Glad you had a fun weekend!

  4. Okay, so I’ve got to watch Frozen. Everybody is telling me how awesome the cartoon is. EVERYBODY, including you! Haha! I love those slippers btw, they are super duper adorable! As for your running ‘slow’ speed, I wish it was my average fast speed lol! xoxo

PS. I am craving frozen yogourt, but it’s like -12 celcius here in Montreal 😦 BUMMER!

    1. LOL uh oh! I hope we didn’t build it up too much so that when you see it you think it was boring haha. I’m just a sucker for an animated Disney film 😉
Lol thank you so much! Oh I think frozen yogurt is acceptable in any temps. I say go get some and eat it by a fire 😉

  5. I always eat before my long runs, otherwise I almost always hit the wall. I haven’t watched frozen yet but I really want to, I feel so out of the loop! Good job on all your runs, that’s a lot of mileage for one weekend!

  6. Loved the video of the pups farting around in the pool! I wish Toof was more ballsy and would jump in. Sienna’s gotta show him how it’s done. I watched Frozen! We saw it in theaters but Buddy the Elf (ryan) insisted we own it. Shocker 😉

  7. I loved Frozen. The kids I teach at school are all obsessed. They are always singing the songs. I feel you on the rough run this weekend. I feel like I’ve been going a little slower than normal lately. I blame the cold winter!

  8. Love love love your bunny slippers!

Fun thing this weekend… Went dancing, completed our first series of west coast swing lessons so we went to this dance place with our instructors and classmates. Lots of very experienced dancers so it was a bit intimidating. Got out on the dance floor and couldn’t remember any of our steps! We got stage fright! Haha…need more lessons! Was fun never the less.

  9. How cool! I didn’t do anything exciting this weekend but I did exercise a lot – So sick of being lazy about health, so I even did Zumba and strength training both on Saturday.

  10. As I was reading your blog I wondered, what did I do this weekend? I worked Saturday (hence the blackout) and had a magnificent hike yesterday. We went up in the regional space at the base of the Mountain where dogs are allowed off lead. Must do field trip, the Cal, Gus, Sienna and the rest of us . . . . pick a date!

  11. Your Friday nights sound like fun (and no, I am not being sarcastic in the least :))

It sounds like you had a great weekend of running! I know this is weird, but I kinda love when I have a mix of good and mehh runs. When I have a ton of great runs in a row, when the inevitable crappy ones come it’s a huge let down.

I want to see Frozen so so so so badly! I normally don’t love to watch movies, but a great kids movie is SO up my ally! haha!

    1. I hate those hard runs at the time, but you’re right. I definitely appreciate them after-the-fact because it makes me really appreciate those awesome runs.

LOL definitely see Frozen!! It’s not the best movie of all time or anything, but it will make you happy and you will say, “That’s just adorable!”

  12. First off, those slippers are fantastic! 🙂 love them. I love that you had Kyle take photo’s for you and sounds like you had a great run!
We had a great weekend. My husband was home 🙂 I had a great run and we got out to a Farm for their maple syrup event and spent 2 hours outside with the girls…pretty perfect weekend if you ask me!

  13. Haha I know what you mean Zain worked at ESPN for awhile and everytime I told people I’m pretty sure they were like “okay cool so he’s the interesting one in the relationship…..”

Your fro-yo pic is calling to me!!! I went on a great 4 mile run outside this weekend because almost all the snow is gone and it was a whopping 30 degrees out. Woo! Congrats on the 8 miles I can’t wait until I build back up to that mileage. You’re an inspiration!

        1. I agree- Monster’s Inc was better, but I loved Monster’s U too 🙂 But part of the reason I loved it was because the campus was modeled after UC Berkeley’s campus (where I went)- so that might be why 😉
