Always be prepared

But I ain’t no boy scout so I wasn’t…

Yesterday AM I woke up at 5 to get in my 3 miles. I had a busy day ahead and knew that I had a better shot of getting the run in if I did it super early.

I crawl out of bed, change, and stumble over to my treadmill…only to find it in its upright storage position in the corner of the room (it’s too big for me to move). Fan-freaking-tastic. I’m too tired to go yell at my dad for not putting it back, so I quickly put my PJ’s back on and hop back into bed.

Lesson learned: while putting out your clothes for your early AM run, make sure the friggin treadmill is in a location where it can actually be used.

Luckily I squeezed in that run that afternoon. It sucked, but I got her done.

My work holiday party recap:

Last Saturday was my work’s holiday party! I get super excited about these types of events because it’s an excuse to get dressed up.

I never went to prom, so this is my adult version of prom minus the corsage, limo, tacky taffeta (mostly), and drama over “will he ask me?”

If this was actually high school and I had asked Kyle to “prom,” it would have sounded like this:

Hey, are you free on Saturday the 14th. Okay cool, you’re going to prom with me.

So romantic.

As you know, I picked out 3 dresses and y’all voted.

These 2 (black and white dresses) were almost tied (white dress in the lead), and then I asked Kyle. Yeah…I can’t keep a secret from him.

He really liked the super tight black dress (go figure), so that’s what I went with (but with different shoes).

We arrived fashionably late, but not on purpose. Ladies, I didn’t know how to put eye liner on…yes, I’m 24. Just FYI, my little sister and mom had to put makeup on me for senior portraits (high school). I just never wore makeup.

The party was awesome. They had acrobats, dinner, dancing, a photo booth, a dessert buffet (that’s right!), and a casino night.

Photoboothing with my friend and her fiance.

And some more photos. And yes, I had to wear the sweater. A bunch of people told me not to wear it, but I needed it as a security blanket if I was going to wear a banana-skin tight dress. Look at my buddy, he’s so cute!

And, because I never went to prom…

  1. Haha, you’re a hot mess. Maybe if you weren’t so busy having other people get you ready for school, you would’ve had time to go to prom!
I actually went to a few proms – two at my school and two at rival high schools. Scandalous!

  2. You look beautiful as always. Cute shoes. Your outfit came together very nicely. And you and Kyle are such an adorable couple!

  3. You look gorgeous! I’m so surprised Kyle picked the tight dress (<–sarcasm). Seriously love the prom poses.. esp if you missed out on prom. And seriously with the photo booth and acrobats? How fun!! I want to work with you! I work at a company with 300,000+ employees world wide. No holiday party here 😦 Most teams are scattered, so I don't have anyone on my team in San Diego and they don't just throw a site wide party anymore. They make up for it throughout the year by hosting keggers though. Beer can make me forget our lack of perks… and everything else for that matter πŸ˜‰

    1. Lol aww thank you my dear! Haha I know, Kyle totally shocked me with his choice πŸ˜‰ NO HOLIDAY PARTY?! That’s super lame. Kyle’s company didn’t throw an offsite one this year. I’m fairly certain it was held during work hours on a Friday. I guess better than nothing! Glad they at least give you beer. Beer solves lots of problems, until you have too much beer. And then beer creates problems. Does Ryan at least get a party that you can attend?

      1. He’s at a new company that I guess does big parties every other year… And this is their off year. Shoot, who do I need to work for around here to get an open bar tab on the company?! LOL. Your night sounds amazing. They really hooked you guys up with something special.

  4. Omg let me tell you how I’m in the same boat. I’m 24 and suck at putting makeup on. My sister did my makeup for my university grad pics. I went to a wedding a couple months ago it was out wn so I couldn’t get her to do my makeup so she went through it with me a few days before and we out a step by step guide if what to do lol.
I did go to prom and it was with my current bf.

    1. LOL OMG I’m so glad I’m not alone! My friend from work told me I just need to watch youtube videos and practice. So that’s what I’m gonna do…eventually.

OMG that’s way too cute!! So you guys are high school sweethearts?!

  5. Hahahaha I don’t think checking to think my treadmill was set up would ever cross my mind!

You and Kyle both look lovely πŸ™‚

Holy moly, now, THAT is a work party! Acrobats?!?! That is seriously the coolest thing ever!
I used to get in trouble for playing in my Moms make up drawer and being “too young for make up” all of the time growing up, really I just looked like I got punched in the eye from my poor skills haha!

    1. LOL I know right? I just assume the treadmill is usable!

      Aww thank you πŸ™‚

PAHAHA I remember putting makeup on my little sister and cousin and getting in trouble because they were too young. I’m certain they looked like they were punched in the eye as well πŸ˜‰

  6. Ha I love this! I went to prom and had two dates my senior year because my first wasn’t being enough of a gentleman for my dad’s taste so I had to ditch him. Luckily I got asked by another guy that week…oh high school drama, how I don’t miss you
