Yesterday was Kyle’s Oma’s (grandma in German) birthday party.
I brought her a present of my homemade macarons!
I know I’ve said this before, but I’ve had people ask me recently at work- the macarons I make are indeed spelled “macarons,” not macaroons. The spelling with 2 o’s is not an alternate spelling. Macaron refers to the French dessert made with a meringue base (pictured above). Macaroon refers to a coconut based dessert. Nerdy baking lesson over.
I’m getting a lot better at these. This last time I had no “mess-ups,” aka cookies that broke/cracked. Pretty soon I think I will be confident enough to write a post on how to make them!
Back to the dinner at Kyle’s house.
The food is always delicious there, and yesterday was no exception.
They also made crab mac and cheese and some sort of red meat <— you can tell that I don’t eat red meat. I don’t eat crab or red meat but everyone said it was delicious.
And because there is ALWAYS room for dessert, or in our case 2 desserts…
His mom made some sort of toffee crunch cake with caramel sauce and sea salt. So. Good. Oh and then we also had macarons because 2 desserts >> 1 dessert.
So glad that I ran 3.23 miles yesterday and 7 miles today. Had to work off all that food somehow 😉 Plus I did my thigh workout from the 30 day thigh challenge.
Do you ever eat 2 desserts, or do you have more self control than I do?
Are you doing the 30 day thigh challenge with me? Did you do your workout today?
