I run because…

I used to hate running. That Presidential Fitness test in school- loved everything BUT the mile. After running my first half marathon on Sunday, I’ve thought about why I run now.



I love to eat frozen yogurt. Actually, desserts in general. P.S. According to Anne of Candy Crazed Run, it is a scientific fact that frozen yogurt is critical to long run recovery. Can’t argue with science ๐Ÿ˜‰

it gives me an excuse to eat waffles or a PB&J sandwich for dinner and call it carbo loading

I like that I can set a (running) goal and accomplish something

I can meet so many awesome people through running/blogging

it gives me an excuse to buy cute workout clothes

I can. I used to use my bulged disc as an excuse NOT to run (I would only run up to 3 miles). I had pain when I ran longer distances, which is a good excuse, but life is about learning to adapt. I finally learned how to change how I run and to listen to my body. There are plenty of people out there with back issues, knee issues, hip issues, and people with no legs! If they can run, so can I. #noexcuses

  2. Your 100th post is so cool! Kind of crazy right, you started this blog to help document your training, and now you get to post THIS on your 100th post.

    You’re amazing lady — I’m so sure your family, and all of us little readers, are VERY proud! Amazing.

    And did you wear that medal for a long time? I swear I still want to wear mine sometimes.

    1. Haha I know! I forgot it would be my 100th today, and when I posted it informed me, so obviously I went back and edited my post haha.

      I wore it basically all day. I think runners should be allowed to wear their medals EVERYWHERE for up to 1 week though…just sayin’

  3. You’ve inspired me to try again . . . when I’m cleared. NO excuses! I remember a couple of years ago running down the iron horse trail and having pain in my foot- as I was whining (to myself) I saw a friend running toward me- he runs on one prosthetic leg . . . I stopped the pity party and kept going. I’m all about the frozen yogurt too . . .

    I run because it makes me sane, it grounds me, it builds me up, and sometimes it knocks me down, but mainly it proves that the best things in life take effort.
