My new favorite hydration beverage and how to get someone to run with you

At work I keep a large jar of candy on my desk for coworkers to take. it’s how i make friends πŸ˜‰ Yesterday, a coworker gave me a Swiss (haha totally just spelled that “Suisse”- the French way) chocolate because he says he’s always stealing mine. He had just gotten back from a work trip in Switzerland.

I don’t really like chocolate but I tried this and it was yummy

I asked Kyle if he would run with me after he got home from work. He said yes cause he’s a good sport. I really didn’t want to run yesterday, so that was an easy way to get my butt moving. I told him if he ran with me, we’d run to dinner and meet my parents and they would drive us home. food = good bribery.

I hadn’t drank much that day so I whipped out my newest purchase, Nuun!! I keep hearing about this from other runners and finally bought one when I picked up some gels. I got the watermelon flavor and now I know what the big deal is!

I HATTTEEE the taste of artificial sweeteners. This doesn’t have the nasty aftertaste! Soooo good. I want to go buy more watermelon before they run out (it’s seasonal).

The electrolytes that your body needs: Each tube of Nuun contains 12 tablets. Each tablet makes 16 oz. of Nuun, and delivers 360 mg Sodium /Β 100 mg Potassium / 25 mg Magnesium / 13 mg Calcium

Nothing that you don’t: Less than 1g of carbs, fewer than 8 calories. No sugar. No high-fructose corn syrup. No artificial flavors or colors.

I got all hydrated and what not and was ready to roll when Kyle got home from work.

It was only ~2 miles away, but I wanted to keep the run light because I had back issues the day before. We weren’t breaking any records here, but it was also dark and we had to run by the light of a flashlight.

We met my parents at El Nido, a Mexican restaurant. I finally remembered to take a photo of my food! But it is a horrible photo because we were outside and the lighting wasn’t great

Chicken breast cooked in mole sauce, served with rice and tortillas. So good.

When we got home from dinner I was freezing. You know that feeling when you’re hot and sweaty after a run/workout, and then you start to cool off but it’s cold outside so you just stay cold? So I made tea. Had to use my mom’s Tigger mug. It makes it taste better.

This morning I’m running a 6 mile taper run- aka don’t run fast. While I was hydrating, I snapped a couple pics.

And I caught my cat, Skyler, scolding my dog, Sienna. Skyler (cat) often drinks out of Sienna’s (dog) water bowl. Actually Skyler (cat) has a bad habit of thinking any bowl/cup of liquid is hers. She’s gotten her head stuck in a couple of cups…

Anyways, Skyler (cat) was drinking out of Sienna’s (dog) water bowl this morning and Sienna wanted some. Sienna gently walked up and tried to get a sip, and Skyler bopped her on the head. Don’t worry, I shooed Skyler away…after laughing a bunch.

I’ll let you know how my run goes.

What do you like to hydrate with? Water, coconut water, and now Nuun!

  1. Apparently our pets are twins too — because August (cat) ALWAYS drinks out of Gus’s (dog) bowl! She’s so spoiled (AKA picky) and literally only drinks out of his bowl, or a running faucet. Let me tell you who facilitates THAT one (ZACH).

And now I’m curious about Nuun! I see it every time I’m in line at our grocery store but haven’t made the move to pick it up. You’re making me think it’s worth a shot. Didn’t mess up your stomach at all?

    1. Hahaha silly kitty (and Zach)!

Nuun is really good. But read my next post lol. I drank Nuun before hand so I can’t say for sure that it didn’t “help” my situation. I think it is good for post-run though! I’ll keep you updated though.

Talk to me!
