Forgetful Run

WORKOUT:

Ran 12 miles…but not according to my Garmin data below because I was too stupid to remember to un-pause my watch…twice.

This was my last practice long run before my half marathon. I woke up at 6:00 AM, 6:15 AM, 6:30 AM, 6:50AM to eat breakfast. I wanted to test a pre-race meal out now, so I don’t drop an egg on the course for the real race.

I also had a huge glass of water and a cup of tea. Then I wanted to wait at least 2 hours before I went running. I watched TV and wrote a blog post, and then I fell asleep…I woke up a little after 9 AM and then started to get ready for my run.

This run felt great! The weather was nice- cloudy for most of it, mid-60s, and a cool breeze.

My first 3 miles were hard (as usual) but I felt good. My hips felt a little sore during the run, but nothing painful that made me think I should stop.

I brought a gel to take at mile 7, and I’m glad I took it then because I must have been fading. As soon as I swallowed the gel, I started to speed up (I think this was more of a placebo effect because there’s no way it would have worked that quickly).

The times and distances (above) are accurate until after mile 7. I had to pause at a stop light a little after mile 7 and forgot to un-pause my dang watch. It beeped at me a while later and said it was going to shut off to save power. crap. And then I did this again during mile 9, but I noticed it much earlier this time.

I sped up in mile 10 because a couple of older ladies on bikes were next to me at a stop light. We took off at the same time and I wanted to see how long I could stay in front of them. They were on a leisurely ride, so it’s nothing impressive. They were very cute though and told me, “Great job! Keep going!” <–See! Buddy the Elf Method at work! They must have read my blog…

I can’t believe I went over 0.5 miles without turning it back on!! So now I have no idea what my pace was. I know my distance was 12 miles because I ran an out-and-back, in fact it might have been a little further. #liveandlearn

I’m the type who constantly has bruises, cuts, and scrapes all over me and I have no idea how I got them. i must sleep-box. I have a scratch on my thigh that I noticed today, and didn’t remember how I got it until I saw my phone pics

Her claws were retracted the whole time, until I sneezed and scared her. Ha.

    1. Haha yeah, he used to eat a lot of peanut butter and banana sandwiches. No!! I just chose sourdough because for a race, you don’t usually want to have whole wheat because it can irritate your stomach (varies per person though). I don’t like white bread, but I LOVE sourdough! Choose whatever your fav is 🙂

    Another twin moment, EVERY run sucks up until about mile 3 for me. . . even 3 mile runs. It’s crazy and I have no idea why, just happens. Seriously amazing run — you are going to KILL your half!!! I’m already getting so excited for you 🙂
