The best place to go, post-run, for free food.

WORKOUT:

Ran 8 miles, 1:19:11, 9:54 pace (9:38, 10:11, 10:23, 10:12, 9:45, 9:24, 9:23, 10:13). I was doing pretty well with my negative splits until that last mile. I think my time would have been faster if it weren’t for all the stoplights. I pause my watch but you still lose momentum and can get out of your groove.

This run was surprisingly easy. It was one of those runs when I remembered why I liked running. I probably looked like I had just escaped the loony bin and was running away because I felt like I was smiling the whole time.

Today was also my second time running with my water bottle.

I take this on my longer runs because sometimes I won’t pass a water fountain for a while. It looks small, and it is. I like it because I have smaller hands so it doesn’t feel bulky or awkward. I stored a gel in that front pouch.

Today was my first time trying out gels on a run. I was only running 8 miles and I didn’t really need one, but before any race, you really want to try out your fuel during a practice run. Unless you like playing with fire and runner’s trots. You never know how your stomach will react to certain fuel…

I’ve had GU gels (not before a run), but I wanted to try the Honey Stinger Organic Energy Gel. I got this one from REI.

I took it at mile 6- and yay, no tummy troubles!

I was lucky today- I really hate running out-and-backs (running to a point, and then turning around and running back the same way). It’s mentally hard and boring and yucky and stupid. I was able to run out 8 miles and Kyle offered to pick me up because he is house sitting near my endpoint. SUGGESTION: Get a good significant other, friend, family member, hitchhike and see if they would be willing to pick you up. Bribery helps 😉

I didn’t need to bribe Kyle, but I wanted to do something nice because he also took me to a special pet food store and Costco so I could pick up 3 different kinds of pet food. Yes, 3 different pets on 3 different types of food. They’re lucky they’re cute. TIP: Costco after a long run = amazing post-run free food 🙂 Leggo my Eggo sample lady.

I took Kyle to Jules Thin Crust. Really yummy and not greasy and fatty (depending on what you get). Kyle got pepperoni and sausage, and I got this one:

It satisfied my pizza craving, but without making me feel like I just consumed a pound of cellulite.
